Fishing vessel movement: recording Mexico’s fishermen.

image description
Collecting spatial information on the movement of fishing vessels and the deployment of fishing gear allows scientists to better understand the geographical distribution of fishing activities. By partnering with fishermen and local communities, the Gulf of California Marine Program (GCMP) has been able to develop a system that can record the fishing activity of Mexico’s fishers with just the click of a button.
