Despite its small size, Cabo Pulmo is very involved in the park’s management and protection.

CLIMATE CHANGE
The increase of water temperature causes changes in fish and invertebrate community structure, it increases the probability of coral bleaching, and can cause oceanographic changes.
POLLUTION
If not managed properly, plastics, solid waste and contaminated water can damage marine and terrestrial ecosystems.
UNREGULATED TOURISM
Can cause irreversible damage from increase demand in infrastructure, public services and direct pressure on ecosystems through diving and/or other aquatic activities where carrying capacity is not considered.
ILLEGAL AND UNREGULATED FISHING
Healthy ecosystems sustain populations of valuable species like sharks, groupers, seabass, snappers, etc. When these species disappear, changes in the entire ecosystem begin to occur.
LEVEL OF PROTECTION
Mexico adopted the Convention on Nature Protection and Wildlife
Refers to the biomass of each trophic group with respect to the total biomass; it is expressed as a percentage.

TOURISM IN CABO PULMO
To guarantee a proper management for Cabo Pulmo National Park it is necessary to have data that allows managers to identify use patterns within the MPA. CONANP and tourism operators keep records of their activities, allowing them to monitor the health of marine ecosystems.
TERRESTRIAL BIODIVERSITY
The terrestrial area bordering Cabo Pulmo NP includes four main habitats: arid scrub, desert dry scrub, dunes and riparian areas. Each of these habitats is home to a unique diversity of plant and animal species, several endemic to the region.
